It was very interesting to read a view from the other side of the world. In turn, I'll tell a short from my side. I live in Moscow, Russia. For 7 years I've worked with customers from all over the world. If you're freelance developer or artist, your best bet will be to target customers in USA/Canada only. EU customers I had contracts with where too exacting, customers from far/middle east often tried to cheat on me using tricky juristic terms in contracts, eastern customers never wanted to pay full price, they want the job done for $10 or even $5 per hour, and only my US/Canada customers had a good enough understanding of development process and more important, they always pay you full price just in time.
