An online 3d virtual world made in Flash
My first job after collage was at Yogurt Computer Technologies. It was an old and reputable company in İstanbul's digital agency circles. But the company had already transitioned into a startup with their flagship project Yogurtistan. Yogurtistan was a 3D virtual world made in Flash. The aim was to provide an alternative to Second Life in the age of Facebook. The project also featured and open marketplace through ability to set up virtual shops and trade with in app economy. I have joined the company as a junior developer. Initially my responsibilities were just client side development. However later I have took on the most avoided but valuable task of tool development as well. “Death of Flash” hit the company hard, but the company went on longer for a while. Yet its eventual demise was unavoidable.
