MFA Project
My MFA project "withinaction" is an interactive app where in the simplest terms, the user navigates through a web of interconnected scenes by performing movements which would be described in Laban Movement Analysis terms as arcing and carving actions. In designing the process of creating this work, I set out a very rigorous interdisciplinary methodology, and at every step of the process I would simultaneously engage choreographic and game design thinking. At the initial proposal stage of my project, my research was in designing a digital, portable space to support and encourage curious physical uncertainty. But I built in to that process an ideology borrowed from choreographer Susan Rethorst wherein I remain attentive, honest, and open to my creative drives and impulses without naming those drives prematurely.
