I'm Florian Boué an environment artist based in Paris, France. I work in the video game industry for 4 years with Unity and I'm going to share with you my rendering and my workflow for this environment that I called Outpost - Mud Warfare for this Neon Challenge.
I decided to create something mixing an advanced civilisation and an old civilisation. My idea is to show a planet destroyed by others for her natural resources.

Pitch : Ehos was a planet inhabited by seafaring people without great pretensions, covered with huge water surfaces, it attracted the lust of the Imperium. The Imperium, the technologically advanced people came to Ehos and began to siphon the heavy water on the planet to appropriate it. Which causes a brutal climatic warming on the planet and creates a permanent fog on the zones of oceans.
To protect his pumps and communicate with the mother ship, the Imperium has installed different outposts on the planet.
At first I chose a reference image and copied it in Unity with terrain and Props (4 h)
For environment I used : Wetland - Kegiri Mudhut Village, Georgi Simeonov' s concept.
Then set up my lighting according to what I want to do, here an atmosphere inspired by TITANFALL 2
CAMERAS & ANIMATIONS
Finally to be able to work on the most interesting areas I started to pose my cameras and to animate the main subjects.
I used Timeline and Cinemachine to animate my cameras.
LIGHTING & CAMERA EFFECTS
For my lighting I used one Sun, spotlights with FogVolume and FogVolume 3.
