Crime Scene Investigator in the future uses VR Tools
Nexient hosted a Hackathon (theme: Games & Toys) from Friday evening to Sunday evening (October 20th to 22nd 2017). They brought in three judges from other companies to decide on the winners from 5 final presentation competitors.
My team won first place with Cameron Kulhanek as our Team Lead. We created a VR Detective Game to provide players with a unique experience of investigating a crime scene using futuristic VR tools.
We started planning Friday evening after work and completed the game by Sunday late morning. Sunday afternoon we prepared our presentation for the judges, practiced our presentation, setup the game demo and gave our presentation to the judges Sunday evening.
We all work at Nexient on different projects and all of us have personal interests in developing VR / AR / MR solutions with Unity3D.

VR DETECTIVE GAME DESCRIPTION:
* Player is a VR Detective that uses futuristic tools to investigate a crime scene.
* Magnifying Glass highlights potential evidence of the crime.
* Evidence Card attached to the right game controller shows each piece of evidence as the player finds them.
UNIQUE VR LOCOMOTION SOLUTION:
***** Mini model of entire game environment is in each room.
***** Use game controller to select a room on the mini model and teleport to that room.
***** Each teleportation starts and ends with player's FOV (field of view) focused on the mini model.
***** This tactic removed possibilities of VR Simulation Sickness.
