Design and prototype of a virtual reality visualization and control system for a unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Live stream video, infrared video, and telemetry data from the UAV is streamed to a server and relayed into virtual reality for the operator. A virtual navigation mapping system provides the operator a visualization of the terrain for a GPS location, and method to plan a flight path for the UAV.
- Developed the user interface, visualization, and control system for plotting navigation flight plans built in Unity.
- Collaborated with a team designing custom APIs to route GPS telemetry, video feed, and infrared image data captured on the UAV, to a Twisted python server, and finally to a Unity WebSocket connected client for live stream data visualization.
