The year is 1942 and the Second World War is raging on. The Germans have unveiled the most powerful two battleships the world has ever seen, Bismark and Tirpitz. The ships are so large that they can only be serviced at one port on the coast of France, the port of Saint Nazaire.
Operation Chariot was the bold and daring plan for British commandos to disable the port. Though the odds are heavily stacked against them, no man wavered. Though the mission was a success, it came at a price; most of the British commandos were unable to evacuate and were either killed or captured.
Five men managed to evade capture through France, and escape through Spain back to England.
This is their story.
