An adventure game about cats on a remote island in Maine.
“Peace Island” is the working title of an open-world adventure game, currently under development.
Set on a small island off the coast of Maine, the story unfolds from the perspective of the nine cats who call the island home. The player will take on the roles of each of the nine protagonists to determine what the future holds, when they wake up to find their human companions gone.
“Peace Island” will be (as the name might imply,) a non-violent interactive adventure which will focus on story, atmosphere, and exploration, rather than combat. The player will have the opportunity to experience multiple divergent storylines, as they approach the ultimate decision: “Are the humans worth bringing back?” THE ISLAND:
Peace Island will feature a large game world- including four distinct communities, woodlands, scenic coastlines, secluded farmlands, abandoned WW2 ruins, and much more. The vast majority of the island’s 50-plus structures will be accessible, as well. There is a local public radio station, as well as a newspaper that serve that Island’s erstwhile 100 year-round residents.
THE STORY:
Elizabeth hasn’t had the best of days. It began with being gently shoved into the big plastic box that usually meant a trip to the doctor. She made her opinion about the situation well known as she was carried away.
The anticipated pokes and prods never materialized, thankfully enough, but it was loud, and bright, and noisy outside of her tiny confines. Fortunately, the box was lined with her favorite blanket. Her occasional protestations were met with a steady stream of reassuring murmurs, and generous treats shoved in-between the shiny bars of her temporary prison.
The ever-changing tableau of alien color and shape outside faded as a grudging sleep overcame her. She was with her human, after all. As long as they were together, she knew she was safe.
When she awoke some time later, the door to her cage was open. Any fear of the unfamiliar was banished, when she caught the scent of fresh food, just beyond her confines.
Yet- the apartment she finds herself in is silent. Her human is nowhere to be found, and the unfamiliar sight of an open door beckons. She would rather stay inside, but she can hear the cries of one of her kind, just outside.
Thus begins the story of “Peace Island.” A mix of Science Fiction, Alternate History, and Mystery.
As Elizabeth emerges into the world beyond, she learns about her new home, the other cats on the island, and the now-departed human residents. Her journey will take her and her friends to the furthest reaches of the island, as they work to ensure their own survival, and decide the fate of humanity.

SyndamaHey, I just saw this post and I'd just like to congradulate you on your work. I've been using Unity for close to 3 years now (I think) and have never managed to make anything half decent or anything worth sharing so seeing someone with half the amount of experince simply amazes me, keep up the good work. P.S, if you need help, I'm always ready to learn from others, but you don't have to.
Thank you for your offer of help- it's appreciated more than I can say. Tomorrow, I will compile a small file that contains all of the elements of the interactivity I need to integrate- I will PM you with the link, and the details. It should not take you more than 15 minutes to do this- and would bring me 10% further towards a workable demo. Thanks so much, once again!

I am more than happy to help you create this game as much as you are willing to let me, as I am still a student, I find that your kind gesture of paying me won't be necessary, I am only looking for the experience. I have accumulated a lot of programming knowledge over my time but have never found the means to use them so joining this project could be very valuable to you and me.

Thanks- I am humbled by your kind words! Understand, before I started working in Unity, I worked in illustration/graphic design for almost 20 years- A lot of what I learned in that field carries over. I also have the luxury of creating a game about a place where I actually live, rather than a fantastical environment. I tell ya what: If you know basic unity stuff like colliders, creating pop-ups, etc, I am looking for someone to help me out on that sorta thing. I pay 20 USD per hour, and I'd give you credit, when the project is released. Let me know!
