Night Fall Among the Stars (Work In Progress)

About myself

Hello everyone and other challengers, my name is Alan. Currently a third year student at UT Dallas, I join the Neon Challenge kind of late just as I wrapped up all my semester projects. Having only 4 weeks to work on this environment, I will put all my best effort on this environment. Every comments and critiques are very welcome, so please throw them at me if you have any questions!

About Night Fall Among the Stars

For this challenge, I want to create a new world where humanity has reach beyond the stars. Planet colonization is the new frontier for humanity to move forward and survive. This environment is set in a city center on a newly colonized planet. This area is a social space, like a mall, but in a bigger scale - like the Mass Effect's Citadel. The aesthetic overall is very fantasy sci-fi and realistic. The lightning of the scene will be quite dark, but there will be highlights to give the sense of wonder. The look of the environment will be very similar to Mass Effect Andromeda and Destiny 2.

So I only 4 weeks left to finish up the environment. Because of this, an original idea would be out of option for me due to the amount of time that will be needed to draw up a concept art. So I search up a concept design on Artstation that suit the aesthetic that I'm aiming for. And here the concept that I've decided on:

Work In Grogress (Week 2)

In Week 2, I begin to test out the lighting and sky-box. In past environment, I usually want to set up a working lightning before moving forward with making more asset for the scene. This give me a better sense of how the material and texture will look when I import from Substance. It also me time on baking light-map, since my computer is not very powerful in term of CPU. So a working lightning setup that I can just re-bake the light-map every time I import more asset into the scene is very time-saving.

I started working on the environment about 2 days before this post. Mostly decide on how I'm planning to model and texture most of the assets. And here is the result so far:
