Superhero Mountain is an action-adventure, beat 'em up, with light RPG elements and 3D platforming. The combat is fast-paced and relies on the player's skill as well as the combat strength of each character.
Play as 12 different Superheroes, each with unique powers and abilities.
As each Hero unlocks, you’ll be able to swap heroes in-game to find advantages in fights and pass obstacles more easily.
Heroes also earn experience as they defeat enemies and explore areas. This is something you’ll want to keep in mind throughout the game. Neglect a hero early on, and they may be too weak to use later on.
The 3D assets of Superhero Mountain all feature hand-painted textures and use a toon-shader. Stylistically, the bright vibrant colors of the game are meant to be reminiscent of N64 and Playstation 1 platformers.
Superhero Mountain takes place in a present-day alternate universe, where Superheroes have existed for almost a century.
In the 1960’s, 11 Heroes fought and protected the world from crime, evil, and injustice. All was well, until a rift formed between the Superheroes.
Five of the Heroes believed that they existed above the justice system, as the laws of various nations, as well as crime and morality varied from culture to culture. Only the unbiased mind of the hero could provide an immediate and appropriate punishment for criminals. They formed The Alliance of Truth.
Five other Heroes held firm to the belief that criminals were bound strictly by the laws of the nation where the crime was committed. After capturing criminals, these heroes would turn the perpetrators over to the appropriate criminal justice system. They formed the Union of Trust.
One Hero refused to join either pact. He held the belief that the responsibility of policing the world should remain with the common man, and that Heroes had no place interfering. Pitting the two groups of Heroes against each other and setting a trap, he was able to seal the heroes under a mountain, locking them away from the world. After all Heroes were subdued underneath the mountain, the final Hero fled away in secret to an unknown location, never to be heard from again.
In the present day, evil and crime have returned to their pre-Hero prevalence, generating villainous pockets of power across the globe.
The game begins as one such criminal organization, with a newly discovered Hero held captive, drives up Superhero Mountain in hopes of unleashing the power of the Heroes locked inside.
While not fully open-world, Superhero Mountain contains many large and uniquely styalized areas to explore and traverse, with fast travel points located throughout. All of the main areas are not interconnected, but become easy to navigate as the game progresses.
Travel from world-to-world via the use of Hero Stones - ancient sources of strength and power that only Superheroes can utilize.
