References and Inspirations
The main goal was to try a new aproach on the cliche sci-fi neon filled cityscape. The main inspiration came from from the following architecture styles:
  • Brutalism
  • Soviet architecture
  • 60s and 70s sci-fi sets

Lighting
The main light rig is a HDR skybox with a directional light acting as sun. The scene has 150 spotlights, all of them are baked. 90% of the assets use the standard shader.
The City of Neongrad

Assets
The main assets were modeled based on references in Maya and textured in SubstancePainter. The building textures were made in Photoshop. Most of the textures are from Textures.com. The only third party assets that I used are the rooftop decals, vehicles and trees.
Some custom assets, that I made for this project:
The project contains the following items from the Asset Store:
  • Post Processing Stack v1
  • Apocalyptic City Pack
  • Fog Volume 3
  • FreeSpeedTree Package

Great work, I like this style a lot, but unfortunately, there is no any video of it (and a final video is a main part of a challenge) :( And I would really want to see how this looks in video.

August SönnergrenDo you use post processing to color the shadows aqua blue? I have the porblem that my scene becomes too purple when I try cto color the shadows dark purple, to mimic the concept art Im basing my scene on -
BTW you need to put your video on top of the article to qualify. And obviously, not have it uploaded after the deadline
