I never worked on Unity before, but wanted to give a try to real-time 3D. I needed some "motivation milestone" for my first steps. The Neon Challenge came right in time, even if I had only one month to understand the software while making the project... I finished the animation two hours before deadline, so please forgive me for the glitchy details and for the lack of informations about the making of (I'll try to upload additional things after the project end if I the system let me do so)!
The landscape is from World Machine, textures are Substances. I used MicroSplat from Jason Booth for the terrain (with Anti-Tile, Global Texture, Tessellation and Triplanar extensions). The pseudo-baboab tree is one I made a couple of years ago and that fitted perfectly with this environment. Characters are from Fuse and animations from Mixamo. The rhinos and the flies are from the Asset Store for free (Fantasy Rhino by Maksim Bugrimov and Flies System by Made for Games). The atmospheric scattering is from the Unity Blacksmith asset. The vegetation is a simple moss billboard used as detail grass on the Unity standard terrain editor. I used a mass placement utility that can place grass on a specific layer of the splat-map.
