Descender comes from my enjoyment of old games like Lunar Lander and Striker, combined with the art style I loved in Limbo.
I created the mechanic for this game almost a year ago, but sat on the project for almost a year without progressing it.
I finally got some inspiration to finish the game, and have released the game initially for Android.
You descend a cave system with limited thruster power and health. Thrusters regenerate slowly if you don't use them, and you lose health from impacting walls, enemies, or traps.
The cave system can be quite treacherous at times. Enemies and obstacles are randomly generated, as are small helper items that give you shields or thruster efficiency boosts.
The first cave segment is always static, but the following segments are placed in random order from a long list of various cave segment options.
The idea is to get as far down into the never ending system as possible, in the quickest amount of time. To do this, you need to be super efficient with your thrusters, and be ready for sudden changes in gravity too!
