Autem is a top down digital tabletop strategy game. It is higly based off Armello and Catan. This game has taught me how to design complex strategies and also how to balance economy and gameplay. The game itself needed players to gather gold and build armies while building farms to sustain them, if these got stolen then the player’s army will starve to death. And that made me focus a lot of the balancing part.
Autem is a top down digital tabletop strategy game. It is higly based off Armello and Catan. This game has taught me how to design complex strategies and also how to balance economy and gameplay. The game itself needed players to gather gold and build armies while building farms to sustain them, if these got stolen then the player’s army will starve to death. And that made me focus a lot of the balancing part. This is a 4 player Coop/PVP game. You can choose to help other players out in order to correct a problem both of them are facing. The base idea of the game is betrayal and trust. Since this happened in all of the matches including when beta testers were testing and we didn’t even tell them about this, I consider it a success. The base idea of the game was there on the deadline and I’m quite happy that it is. The starts with each player having only 1 explorer spawned on their base. Each player is also assigned a unique objective. Units : Explorer - Has 3 actions, can move, conquest gold mines or other farms and can also build farms. Warrior - Has 2 actions, can move, attack from close range. Archer - Has 2 actions, can move , attack from a distance. Objectives range from Killing a certain player to gathering a certain ammount of relics wich the player gets from defeating monsters that are layed down on the map. They also respawn after a certain ammount of time.
