I was only able to do the next few bits of the Space Shooter tutorial. They mainly covered Colliders, Positioning, Cameras, and Lighting. There were a few updates to the videos that made it a little more difficult to follow, but nothing too serious. I understand the idea behind colliders and I'm looking forward to seeing how to manipulate them through code (or other means). The lighting bit was most interesting. I didn't realize how important it was to making objects look. I'm pretty sure that this will be a topic in future tutorials, and I'm looking forward learning more about them. I didn't quite understand how we were able to move them out of the way but that didn't effect the way the object was lighted (the video said that this was because they were directional lights), but I'm sure i'll grok it later.
important shortcuts learned:
F - frames the selected object in the scene view (double clicking the object in the hierarchy window also works).
CTRL - D - Duplicates the object selected.
CTRL - SHIFT - N - Creates an empty object. This is very important for organization in the hierarchy view. Just remember to reset the transform and make sure they have a scale of 1.
