Developed a 360 Video Playback for VR devices, HTC Vive and Oculus, can easily port to Gear VR and Daydream + Cardboard.
The project consists of using a high poly sphere mesh with correct poly placement to minimise the distortion at the poles. Using a custom shader to invert the normals, the video can be wrapped around the mesh and viewed from inside the mesh. Using an embedded movie clip, with a matching Audio Source and the Material Override property I am able to produce a fully functioning immersive 360 video ready for a VR experience.
