A one-day conference for student game developers to learn from, network with, and inspire each other! The 1st Annual SGDA Summit packed into one day: 5 workshops by SGDA students, 7 talks by professional developers, and 2 panels (Speakers panel; SGDA Alumni panel) covering various skills and wisdom. Everything was free, including lunch, dinner, t-shirts, and end-of-summit give-away prizes. Being one of the most fulfilling projects I was lucky to be a part of, I look forward to collaborating with and expanding SGDA for years to come.
The Student Game Developers Alliance (SGDA) was created with the intention to: • PROVIDE valuable networking opportunities between students and professional developers. • RAISE awareness for game development education, • ENCOURAGE our member's passions for game development, • ALLOW developers to mutually learn from each other’s approaches to game development.
Founded by students across California in the summer/spring of 2017, SGDA unites student game developers into the 1st student game developer community dedicated to providing educational and professional networking opportunities to students.
In January 2017, a meeting of Californian student game development club leaders took place. The leaders' passionate resolve would be the catalyst for a community unlike any other. Within a month, they formed the Student Game Developers Alliance (SGDA) with the intent to provide students free opportunities for learning and networking -- inspiring student and professional game developers, alike. Determining a conference-style event would fulfill those goals and set out to create an event by student devs for student devs.
In one day, the 1st annual SGDA Summit packed 5 workshops by SGDA students, 7 talks by professional developers, and 2 panels (Speakers panel; SGDA Alumni panel) --- all providing insight into various game development skills. Everything was free, including lunch, dinner, t-shirts, and end-of-summit give-away prizes. Being one of the most fulfilling projects I was lucky to be a part of, I look forward to collaborating with and expanding SGDA for years to come.
