I've finished my city model
10 days until finish... I'm working now, on Unity... wait for it!!!!! :D :D
Update Day 26 - 31
Update Day 17 - 25
Well, here I am with my new update, this is my work from day 5 to 16
I'm modelling the city yet, but looks pretty cool already.
I'm bringing to you some timelapse videos on Youtube, and some real time renders on Max viewports.
Update Day 1 - Introduction to this world.
The main challenge is to create an original futuristic environment and bring it to life within Unity3D in real time, using the Asset Store, Cinemachine, Timeline and the Post Processing Stack.
Will 45 days be enough to surpass the just a weekend amazing NEON scene by Veselin Efremov? Yes, something unique will be created! How? Here we go!
In my opinion, a good way to improve the idea is to, first of all, create my own assets, although I must use something from the assets store. Second, making my own special effects, and last but not least, tell a short story, after all, Unity is to create (interactive) stories.
Day 1 to 26: Write a short story, choose conceptual art to use, modeling the assets. (I must run because I started from the 3rd day of the challenge)
Day 27 to 35: staging, lighting, and use of Unity technology in real time.
Day 36 to 40: animation, and final touches.
Day 41 to 45: Post final work, find my winning likes :D!!
Every 5 days I will post my progress.
Every day, enjoy the challenge, after all ... if it's not fun, it's not worth it xD
Find winning likes, from the first day! Thanks for the 20 likes I already have!
Day 1 to 5:
I am using the image of my friend Jose Fernando Garcia, who is one of the best illustrators I know. http://garciar.blogspot.cl/
Also for a part of the city, I'm going to use this image. It will be important in the plot of the story.
Here is my short story:
0 · 4 · 3: The Insider
The story will be told in 3 scenes: (I want to do a nice trick, programming some random for display the scenes in different order)
1st scene (always the same): We hear a sound. The camera slowly climbs behind the tower diagonally, to the position of the concept art image.
The cloak moves slowly, the guy is on the balcony, watching the city. Seconds later, the camera focuses a missile above the city and follows its trajectory, until it hits and explodes. The sound is heard before the camera goes to white, and then to black.
2nd scene: the sound is heard, the camera, this time, goes down... we go down behind the tower to the back of the city, where there is a futuristic shaman, in front of an altar or kind of. We hear the impact and explosion of the missile, the shaman sees a clock, and press the button, as everything trembles, a white light takes over the place, a vortex opens and we start again ...
3rd: we heard the sound, the camera go down from the sky to the position of the concept art. The cloak moves, seconds later the camera focuses on a police car that is chasing a suspect man, the suspect carries a gun or something that looks like a weapon. The police surround him, the explosion sounds, the suspect fire, but they knock him down. All white ... we start again.
I have thought of two alternative endings ...
Creating the assets (part 1)
I fix the scale, the 3D perspective and created volumetric objects in the scene, to locate the main structures.
I started modeling the tower ... I do not know why I felt I had to start with the plane below, or the buildings, or the front, but I started with the tower on the left that is in the foreground... I think it was because of the character that observes everything, the main thing...
I realized that I need some objects behind to check sizes and measures, so I refine the box behind and put some plane terrain at the bottom.
