Hey guys! I'd like to know if theres a way to import a model into Unity3D with lighting? I know we can import with textures, but can we do the lighting in Blender and import the model into Unity3D with the same lighting?

Joshua CarrickBake out the lighting into a texture and import into unity as an AO. This will only work for static meshes though. There are more efficient methods in the actual engine but this is one way to do it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeogP2uIEZU
@Joshua Carrick Thank you so much!

HEy there, may I ask what strategy you are currently using to export models made in blender to unity? I mean especially because of that rotation/switched axes problem...

If rotation is applied (Ctrl+A) then when exporting to fbx I mark the checkbox that says !EXPERIMENTAL! Apply Transform.

If it's a simple object (only one object, no hierarchy or empty parents involved, not skinned), then I select the object, rotate it -90° in the x-axis, and Ctrl + A to apply that rotation. Then you're good to export it. But that makes it inconvenient if you want to edit it. So if you want, you can rotate it back +90° in the x-axis to make it "look right" in Blender, but make sure NOT to apply that rotation. Then, not only can you export it nicely to Unity, but you can edit the object normally with it standing upright like usual. (-Y global axis in Unity will become the object's +Z forward in Unity). The object should say its rotation is (+90, 0, 0)°. This means when it comes time to export, it acknowledges that the object is +90° rotated from its actual default state, and the FBX exporter will export it in its default state, so the +90 will not have an effect. I hope this makes sense!

Hi all,

I am looking for an experienced 3d artist to join our team working on a robot fighting game called Block Wars.

To start with, the modelling work will involve working on helping to design our blocks and gears, and then modelling: Blocks, gear, wheels, weapons, motors, fighting arena and environment assets. Ideally you will be using Blender and have examples of your past work.

If you have are interested in joining the project or have any questions about the role please feel free to contact me on discord at anthot#7054
