Welcome to the 2D Platformer Creators Group. As a new user you will find this group useful to interact with others who are also at their Unity learning beginnings. You will find Unity Staff and experienced developers around to help you with any of the issues that may arise during your learning process.

With this group you will be able to discuss, ask questions and show off your work based around the 2D Platformer Tutorial. Not only will you be able to interact with the group and see content shared from Unity, you can 'Join Discussion Channel' by clicking on the button at the top right of this page. This will allow you to interact with others through our messenger system in a chat exclusively related to the group.

We are incredibly excited to have you here and to help you in your journey with Unity and hope you have a lot of fun learning how to build games with us.

Hello, Sort-of newbie here; have created games in other languages (C#, Python, Visual Basic) and have looked at Unity before; however I always seem to have problems with even the simplest tutorials. Most of the time there is always something that is described that does not work as it is described. This is the latest problem: working to modify the UI splash screen and it WILL NOT SHOW in the game view OR the running game! This is very frustrating; and is the main reason that I have not continued with Unity. Here are two screen shots to explain the problem: The first is how the screen is supposed to look, and the second is the editor as I am working. You can see that the UI Header is marked but it will not show! What am I doing wrong? Contact at JollyJesterGames@gmail.com.

Try selecting 'UI Canvas' in the SampleScene Hierarchy then ticking the tickbox next to 'UI Canvas' in the inspector on the right hand side (i.e. in a similar way to what you have done for 'Header'). I seem to remember I hit the same problem trying to follow the tutorial.
